Introduction of Feeler Gauge:
The feeler gauge is made of thin steel sheet and is composed of several gauge sheets (rulers) with different thickness,
mainly used to check the gap between two joint surfaces, so it is also called "feeler gauge tape" or "slit gauge". The
thickness of each ruler is marked with mm.
Feeler gauge is mainly used to check the clearance between the special fastening surface and fastening surface of the
machine tool, piston and cylinder, piston ring groove and piston ring, crosshead sliding plate and guide plate, top of inlet
and exhaust valve, rocker arm and gear meshing clearance.
Attentions:
1. Select the number of feeler gauge pieces according to the clearance of the joint surface, but the less the number of pieces,
the better.
2. Do not use too much force during measurement to avoid bending and breaking of the feeler gauge; High temperature
workpieces cannot be measured.
3. When using the feeler gauge, do not wear gloves and keep your hands clean and dry.
4. Observe whether the feeler gauge is bent or rusted to avoid affecting the accuracy of measurement.
5. Wipe the dust and oil on the feeler gauge to avoid affecting the accuracy of measurement.
6. Do not force the feeler gauge into the measuring gap during measurement to avoid bending or breaking of the feeler
gauge.
